“This project has the potential to rebuild lives and transform a community that has been left behind for decades.” - Carissa Phelps
"Carissa" the documentary calls attention to the sexual exploitation of children on America's streets, as well as a forgotten neighborhood. "The Carissa Project" is an effort to spring Carissa's personal story, her undeniable passion, and her education & network into action.
How can you join the movement?
Contributions are personal investments. We are asking for monetary contributions (tax deductible), time, and contacts to get this project market ready.
Community Economic Development is a proven strategy. It's innovative, and application of CED is unique to every community. This particular project was inspired by Carissa's story, and the fact that there are streets just like Motel Drive all over the United States. By creating a real economic opportunity in neighborhoods like these, opportunistic adults will not have such a convenient place to take vulnerable children to exploit them in broad daylight.
The community around Motel and Parkway Drive is ready to take a stand against child exploitation.
