In July, in the midst of studying for the bar exam, I broke away to share my experience, as well as the documentary with a very special group of college students. Like every time I share, I received more gifts than I left. All the students had wonderful questions and seemed determined to go on to rebuild their communities. I answered their questions, attempted to motivate, and perhaps inspired them all to work for a brighter future for everyone in Fresno, California, or wherever they find their life calling.

I was the keynote speaker at the first ever WHCC Leadership Conference on May 5, 2008. There was a terrific connection with the students. The afternoon went over time with Q&A, and culminated with a standing ovation from the ever inspiring group of community college students, staff and faculty. I wish I could have given them my own standing ovation back. What they overcame to get to where they were that afternoon was impressive!
